I used to ride with my dad in the potato truck and we would listen to Paul Harvey 's "The Rest of the Story." I miss those long summer days, my dad, and Paul Harvey; but now you may hear the rest of OUR story! ..."Good Day"

This one time at band camp.... no, I mean just camp...

This weekend, I learned something new about myself. Drum roll please.... I like to camp! Let me give you some history on the situation... I always went to Girls Camp as a adolescent, but have not done so for fifteen years, I just thought the kind of camping I liked had amenities which included room service, wake-up calls, and a concierge.

This weekend wasn't completely roughing it. We had access to toliets, showers and a pool. My husband and I have different views on what true camping is but if you ask me, sleeping outdoors, making your meals out of a cooler with a camp chef, and roasting smores in the evening IS camping. If we camped like what my husband thinks is truly camping only one of us would have come out alive. I might be short, but I am scrappy!

One last issue and then I will go on. I amused my siblings and their spouses when I became dismayed when Mike put together our tent and I saw our tent was blue. I had thought I picked out a red tent. They asked me what was wrong and I said, "I wanted to be the red team." (Everything we had purchased to go camping was red, or so I thought). I didn't realize when you camped you can't have things match or look like you care. Odds and ends are the standard and the more modge-podge the better! My mistake. I guess I will just have to be the anomaly on this issue.

More about my weekend... I met my brother with his family and my sister with her family. There were thirteen in all with four tents between us. My daughter being twenty months kept trying to wander off which made me long for another tie-out, like what we did with the dog. Okay, maybe that was a little harsh, but truthful. The days were warm and clear but evenings cooled down quickly and soon became cold.

I think the nicest part of the whole weekend was spending it with family. Nothing pressing only pleasant.
